Port Blair, Oct. 17: A seven member delegation of Non-Gazetted Government Officers’ Association, A & N Islands met the Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah today (17.10.2021) at Raj Nivas, Port Blair and held discussion on various demands of Government employees. The delegation also submitted a detailed memorandum to the Home Minister on long pending demands of Govt. employees and workers.

The Association invited the attention of the Minister to the serious issue of undue delay in filling-up of 9000 posts lying vacant under A & N administration. The delegation requested intervention from the Home Minister for early filling up of vacant posts of Principal, Vice Principal, Teachers, LGCs, Staff Nurse, ANMs and other vacancies in different Departments. The Association also demanded steps from the Central Government for 40-seater ATR flight service from Port Blair to Diglipur, Car Nicobar and Campbell Bay under UDAN scheme. The hardship faced by Government employees and general public due to shortage of boat service to Southern group of Islands was also brought to the notice of the Honourable Minister.

The Association also raised the issue of exorbitant flight fare in Port Blair – Mainland sector and demanded subsidy in the air fares. The other issues brought to the notice of Honourable Minister were grant of HRA to employees at par with ‘Y’ Class city throughout the islands, extension of Hard Area Allowance to North & Middle Andaman and South Andaman, re-introduction of CGHS scheme to employees/pensioners of A & N Administration, revision of pay scales of LGCs and HGCs, regularization of ad-hoc services of teachers, enhancement of medical allowance of teachers etc.

The Minister after giving a sympathetic hearing assured of necessary action on the issues raised by the Association.
