Port Blair, Oct. 18: A delegation under the leadership of Shri Rangalal Halder, President, Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee and consisting of Shri M Vasudevan, Ex-Zilla Parishad Member and Shri K Kannan, General Secretary, Block Congress Committee, Little Andaman met with Shri Suneel Anchipakka, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District in his office. The delegation demanded issuing of Smart Cards and Aadhaar Cards in Little Andaman apart from deputing an official team to Little Andaman exclusively for land registration purposes in the island itself. 

Other demands included replacement of damaged electric poles and urgent maintenance of all streetlights, frequent schedule of shipping services, increase of helicopter services, timely disbursement of old age pension, widow pension, handicapped allowance and destitute allowance, improvement of 4G internet connectivity, enhancement of quota of sea sand and its immediate allotment by District Administration, Replacement of defective X-Ray Machine, Generator provided at PHC, Hut Bay and posting of an Eye Specialist, Doctor, Technician for Ultrasound Machine.

After deliberation and going through the charter of demands, Shri Suneel Anchipakka, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District immediately directed the concerned authorities to explore possibilities for providing all such facilities immediately on top priority basis. The delegation has expressed their gratitude to the DC South Andaman for solving the long pending demands of the residents of Little Andaman.
