Port Blair, Dec. 21: The Food Safety Department A&N Administration today conducted a Food Licensing & Registration Mela at Fisheries Zonal Office Hall, Junglighat, Port Blair. The Mela aims at facilitating the Food Business Operators to upload applications for grant/renewal of licenses, modifications in licenses, conversion of Registration Certificates into licenses as per annual turnover of the FBO through online and get it delivered at their doorsteps.

The Food Safety officers detailed the participants about the complete process of uploading applications and procedures to make modifications in licenses through online. Around 53 Nos. of new  Food Business Operators  attended the mela. All quarries of FBO’s related to Licence/Registration were cleared by the FSO’s on the spot.

Further the Food Safety Dept. is going to organise Food Safety Training & Certification(FoSTaC) of 500 Nos. Central & Sate licensed FBO’ under FSS Act, 2006 in the last week of December, 2021. As per the FSS Act,2006, it is mandatory for all the FBO’s to have at least one FoSTaC trained Food Supervisor for every 25 persons engaged in their premises. The Food Safety Dept. is  imparting this training at free of cost and those FBO’s or Employees engaged in food business willing to attend the  training may enrol themselves in advance. The FBOs can enrol themselves for the training at phone No. 03192236168 or may contact Food Safety Office, South Andaman District. 

The Commissioner of Food Safety/Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman has directed all FBOs to take advantage of the opportunity and undergo FoSTaC training.
