Port Blair, Dec. 21: The National Students Union of India (NSUI) State President Mr. M.A Sajid has written a letter to Chief Secretary on Tuesday requesting him to enhance the rate of honorarium of Guest Faculties as per UGC Guidelines.

Sajid in his letter said that the UGC has directed all States and UT’s to enhance the honorarium of Guest Faculties to Rs. 1,500 per lecture subject to a maximum of Rs. 50,000 per month on 28th January, 2019 but the guidelines of UGC has not been followed by the A&N Administration even after two years of implementation.

He said that education is the most powerful weapon to change the world and requested the Chief Secretary to take this matter favourably in the welfare of higher education and the teaching community of A&N Islands.

He added that if the issue is not resolved on or before 10th January, 2022, NSUI will be forced to opt to undergo on Strike along with Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee.
