Port Blair, Jan 10: The District Administration is working on war footing to contain the spread of Covid-19 and limiting the number of cases in South Andaman District and has taken various proactive and necessary measures/ precautions in order to bring this pandemic to a halt.

District Control Room is working 24/7 tirelessly to redress public grievances related to Covid-19 including door to door delivery of medicine, Home Quarantine and Field Surveillance. It has also been carrying out follow up on Covid-19 patients and ILI/SARI patients on daily basis and around 31,872 households covering a population of 1,15,163 have been surveyed and around 7,407 co-morbid persons also being monitored. Around 817 medicine kits and 271 oximeters have been issued to eligible cases for better tracking of health parameters of the concerned.

Further, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA) has requested general public to make sure to vaccinate their children between age group of 15 to 18 year and also urged them to follow COVID appropriate behaviour and help the Administration in its fight against the virus. He also urged general public to kindly come forward and report symptoms at the earliest to the nearest PHCs/CHCs or District Control Room numbers 1077/238881/240127 for better treatment.

He further reiterated that the five-fold strategy of Testing, Tracing, Treatment, COVID appropriate behaviour and vaccination will be meticulously implemented in South Andaman.
