It is a matter of pride that India has remained free of wild polio cases since January, 2011. India’s unprecedented progress against Polio has led to its certification as Polio free by WHO in March, 2014 and recently we have celebrated 25th Year of Pulse Polio Immunization in India. For protection against re-introduction of Polio virus, the National Immunization Day for Polio is being organized on 23rd January, 2022, covering all the children in the age group of 0-5 years.

Amid the pandemic of COVID-19 we have stood firm and alert; so as we continue our effort to maintain the polio free status in these Islands

I, appeal to all sections of society, especially Public Representatives, Non-Government Organizations and people at the grass root level to extend their full and vigorous co-operation to make the Intensive National Immunization Day for Polio on 23rd January, 2022 a great success.
