Port Blair, Jan 28: The ANTCC President, Shri. Rangalal Halder has submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman wherein he highlighted several burning issues of the residents.

In his letter, Halder stated that the quarry operations in North & Middle Andaman has been stopped since many months and this has directly rendered around 4000 labours jobless leaving their dependent family members badly affected. He said that non-providing of quarry permit by the District Administration has also affected the allied units like workshops, crushing units, fuel vendors, mechanics etc.

He added that, due to this all development works of North & Middle Andaman such as road construction/repair, renovation of Govt. buildings and other works are standing still. Moreover, the residents of North & Middle Andaman are unable to build a house of their own. He requested the DC to permit quarry operations at North & Middle Andaman so that the development works may start before the monsoon arrives.

He stated that the peoples of Diglipur, Rangat and Mayabunder are facing several issues in obtaining the permit for earth cutting and dumping.

The dream of every poor is to live on their own house on low budget but due to the lengthy and complicated procedure for earth cutting permit, the poor residents of Diglipur, Rangat and Mayabunder are unable to flatten their land and start house construction on time, explained the ANTCC President.

He said that the process to apply for earth cutting permit is ongoing through online mode which has added to the miseries of people due to erratic and interrupted network. Hence he requested the DC to simplify the process for obtaining earth cutting permit.

He also stated that there are seven Patwarkhanas under the Diglipur Tehsil and concerned Circle Patwaris are expected to sit in their respective Patwarkhanas. But these Patwarkhanas are lying inoperative since many years. He requested the DC to start operating these Patwarkhanas on regular basis at the current time of COVID-19 pandemic and serve the peoples of Diglipur.

Halder mentioned that the circle rates of land has been already fixed by A&N Administration. But now the peoples of North & Middle Andaman are forced to go at DC Office unnecessarily for fixing their land rates. It is a very time consuming process as the DC is head of the entire District and cannot give full time solely for this work.

He added that there are many poor people who need to sell their land on urgent basis for obtaining money in order to carry out their child's higher education or marriage but due to these unnecessary procedures they cannot sale their land on time.

Further, he mentioned that the land dues are also submitted to the DC Office which is not needed in the presence of Tehsildar. Hence he requested the DC to handover these charges to concerned Tehsildars of North & Middle Andaman.
