Announces ‘Mera Andaman Mera Sujhav’ Campaign, Promises Free WiFi in Municipal Areas
Port Blair, Feb 3: The Bharatiya Janata Party, A&N Islands today organised a Press Conference at Hotel Divyum Manor, Port Blair which was addressed by Dilip Saikia, National General Secretary and Election In-Charge (Prabhari), Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The conference was also addressed by Mr. Asish Sood, National Executive Member and Co-Prabhari, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Ex-Member of Parliament and Mr. Vishal Jolly, Former State President and Chairman, Election Management Committee, Panchayat & Municipal Elections 2022.
The press conference was organised to interact with the scribes on the upcoming local body elections in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Dilip Saikia dwelling on the Union Budget 2022-2023, emphasized on the increase in budget allocation to Andaman & Nicobar Islands and the commitment of the Central Govt. to develop Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He reminded about the recent visit of the Home Minister of India to the Islands and the plethora of development projects for which foundations were laid. Saikia added that after the elections when BJP comes to power in Port Blair Municipal Council, BJP will install Free WIFI all over PBMC area to make the city smarter.
Asish Sood, National Executive Member and Co-Prabhari, Andaman & Nicobar Islands spoke about the upcoming local body elections and informed that very soon Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman & Nicobar Islands will start a campaign to invite suggestions from the general public to decide the developmental trajectory of the Islands. The campaign will be called ‘Mera Andaman Mera Sujhav’. He added that special WhatsApp numbers will be released to invite suggestions from the public.
Asish Sood said, ‘Mera Andaman Mera Sujhav’ will enable the common man to suggest the development he wants to see in Andaman & Nicobar Islands and will empower the common man. Apart from inviting suggestions through WhatsApp, boxes will be placed in public spaces where people can drop in their suggestions for the development of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He also informed the scribes that a meeting will also be called by the BJP where intellectuals will be invited to suggest the trajectory for the development of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Ajoy Bairagi while addressing the press informed about the various developmental measures BJP wishes to take up after the local body elections. He said that ‘Mera Andaman Mera Sujhav’ will benefit the people immensely as they will be able to suggest the development they wish to see in the Islands. Bairagi also thanked the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance for a people-friendly budget targeted at making India Atmanirbhar.
Meanwhile Vishal Jolly informed that the Aspiration Box which will be installed at public places to invite suggestions is not just for the manifesto of the party, but the suggestions received will decide the development trajectory of the Islands. Jolly added that BJP shall govern the local bodies after elections with the support of the public. He also thanked the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance for the people-friendly budget and said that the budget is aimed at making an Atmanirbhar Bharat. It will immensely help the lower strata of the society by providing self-employment opportunities.
Bishnu Pada Ray, Ex-Member of Parliament took on the Congress and the Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and said that they have done nothing for the development of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Ray explained the various steps taken by the Modi Govt. for the development of the Islands and said that BJP will usher a new era of development after the local body elections.
