Port Blair, Feb 7: In pursuance of Press Note by Election Commissioner (UTs), dated 28/01/2022 to hold General Election to Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samities, Zilla Parishads and PBMC, the District Administration has constituted Enforcement team Police Station wise for maintaining Model Code of Conduct and defacement of Public Property vide Nodal Officer (PME) Order no. 76, dated 03rd Feb, 2022. Altogether 09 Flying Surveillance team, 09 Video Surveillance team and 09 Check Point teams have been constituted within the South Andaman district for maintaining Model Code of Conduct. All the Enforcement teams and the Videography teams are active on field.
The MCC Enforcement team during the field surveillance has removed many posters/banners/flags and hoardings etc. which were found placed/pasted at the public places particularly in the market area at various locations of Ferrargunj, Port Blair, Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep and Little Andaman in South Andaman District.
The DPME Control Room has received 2 calls of MCC violations related to public gathering and mass camping by political parties. Immediate action has been taken by the concerned enforcement teams and the problem has been resolved.
The Check point team constituted by the District Administration are working actively on field and keeping a strict vigil over the vehicles moving in the South Andaman District. The Check point teams today conducted proper random checks at various prominent locations of Municipal area viz. at Chatham foreshore Road, Haddo Junction, School Line Junction, Carbyn’s Cove Junction and many other such important locations of Port Blair and in other parts of South Andaman also for ensuring that no illegal money/cash, liquor/alcohol or any contraband items be transferred.
The General Public and Political parties are requested to desist from doing any illegal activity which is in contravention and violation to the Model Code of Conduct.
