Port Blair, Feb 25: A lot of complaints have been received from various individuals, contesting candidates and political parties about the involvement of government servants spread across various departments in political activities in the ensuing Panchayat and Municipal Elections which tantamount to the unbecoming of a government servant.
Instances have also been noticed that government employees are getting engaged in disseminating contents related to political parties and also posting election propaganda material on social media and are directly/indirectly involved in campaigning.
It is hereby brought to the notice of all government servants that during the elections they should not indulge in any form of political activity and it is completely against the model code of conduct and CCS (Conduct) Rules.
As a statutory warning, all government servants are hereby cautioned that henceforth in case, if we receive any such complaints, strict disciplinary action against such government employees found campaigning or otherwise getting involved in the affairs of any political party or candidates in this Union Territory shall be taken.
It is hereby warned that all the government servants shall desist from any political involvements and maintain absolute integrity and devotion to duty failing which disciplinary and penal actions as deemed fit under relevant acts and rules shall be initiated against them.
