International Women's day is celebrated globally on the 8th March to honour the achievements of women in various fields. The theme of this year is "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow".

Certainly, women have played foundational role and contributed significantly to the welfare of the society. This celebration acknowledges such women who excelled in their own fields and contributed to sustainable and inclusive development. We are moving towards an exhilarating time in history where the world values and cherishes gender balance.

I am happy to note that the women of Andaman & Nicobar Islands are excelling in social, educational and health sectors and have displayed their zeal, enthusiasm and resilience in every field. They are duly respected, recognized and play a major role in the decision making processes at all levels.

Let us recognize and celebrate the significant contributions of women in our society and inspire them for greater future achievements. Let us all join hands to ensure a safe, secure and equal environment for women.
