Port Blair, March 8: The Non-Gazetted Government Officers’ Association, A & N Islands organized a function at Crusade House, Port Blair on 8th March, 2022 to celebrate the International Women’s Day. A seminar was organized on the topic “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” as a part of the programme.

Inaugurating the Seminar, Ms. Aftab Begum, Retd. Head Clerk conveyed her greetings to all the women employees on the day and exhorted them to create their space through determination and hard work. Ms. Indira Devi, Vice President, Social Welfare Sub-Committee elaborated the difficulties faced by the lady employees in various departments during the Covid period while managing their homes. Ms. Mehrun Nisa from Clerical Cadre branch presented a beautiful poem highlighting the success and sacrifices of women from our country.  Ms. Sabana Bibi from Clerical cadre Branch also discussed on the importance of gender equality in the society for a sustainable future. Ms. Suma Nair, Organising Secretary, NGOs’ Association also expressed her views on the importance of the day.

Ms. T.S. Premlatha, Convenor, Women’s Sub-Committee recalled various incidents to explain that women are better to dealt with crises than men.  Ms. Brundawati, Ms Antara Raju also presented their views on women’s equal rights and safety at work place and in Society and called for bringing more unity among the lady employees.

Shri R. Rajendran, General Secretary of the Association expressed thanks to all the women employees who had actively participated in the programme and held a lively discussion on the topic.

A large number of employees from various Departments attended the programme. Ms. Nasreen Begum, Vice President, NGOs’ Association coordinated the whole programme. Shri R.Papa Rao, President; Shri S.L.Vinjit & Shri Anand Raj, Asst. General Secretaries; E.A.Johson, Finance Secretary also attended the programme.
