INC – DMK Alliance Leads the Tally. TDP to be the Deciding Factor in Forming of Council

Port Blair, March 8: The results of the election to Port Blair Municipal Council were declared today. Accordingly among the 24 wards of the Municipal Council, the Indian National Congress (INC) secured 10 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 10 seats, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) secured 2 seats, the DMK party secured 1 seat and 1 seat was won by an Independent lady candidate. With INC and DMK alliance, INC stands as the majority but the deciding factor will be the two seats of the TDP to form the Council, while the one Independent seat may also be crucial. The results are as follows:

Ward No 1: S Shahul Hameed from TDP defeated his nearest contender B Hema Rao of BJP by a margin of 827 votes

Ward No 2: R Someswar Rao of BJP defeated his nearest contender Eswar Rao of INC by a margin of 137 votes

Ward No 3: Ramzan Ali of INC defeated his nearest contender Hasan Ali of BJP by a margin of 949 votes

Ward No 4: Abdul Islam of INC defeated his nearest contender Abdul Majeed (Independent) by margin of 821 votes

Ward No 5: Selvi of TDP defeated her nearest contender A Shanmugam of INC by a margin of 292

Ward No 6: Aziz ur Rehman of BJP defeated his nearest contender Senthil Kumar of DMK by margin of 543 votes

Ward No 7: Amar Devi of INC defeated her nearest contender Seema Singh of BJP by a margin of 600 votes

Ward No 8: Laxmi Ganeshan of INC defeated her nearest contender M Rekha of BJP by a margin of 626 votes

Ward No 9: V Ravichandran of DMK defeated his nearest contender Sandeep Singh of TDP by margin of 789 votes

Ward No 10: T Mangayakarasai of INC defeated her nearest contender Sheela Singh of BJP by margin of 175 votes

Ward No 11: Sanjeev Reddy of INC defeats his nearest contender Vinita Malhotra of BJP by a margin of 421 votes

Ward No 12: Vasanta of INC defeated her nearest contender Amal Rani of BJP by a margin of 274 votes
