Port Blair, March 13: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief General Manager of BSNL, Andaman & Nicobar Circle to sanction a mobile tower for Flat Bay, Bolcha, Bengali Basti and Ranchi Basti villages of Baratang Island so that these villages get proper mobile network and internet connectivity to ensure a better and safe future for these villagers.

In a letter addressed to the CGM, BSNL A & N Circle, the Member of Parliament mentioned that there is zero mobile network coverage in Flat Bay, Bolcha, Bengali Basti and Ranchi Basti villages of Baratang Island.

Due to non-availability of mobile network and internet facility, the students of these villages are suffering heavily and during the time of pandemic, the students had faced a lot of difficulties in online education. Not only this, youths of these areas are unable to learn about vacancies in various departments and also are unable to apply online for these jobs, he mentioned.

The villagers have informed the MP that due to non-availability of mobile network during the time of emergencies like fire or serious medical cases, they are unable to contact the Fire Brigade of PHC Baratang for help on time.
