Central Crime Station Seizes 4 Kgs Psychotropic Substances Meth Amphetamine, Arrests Four

Port Blair, March 14: Central Crime Station in its continuous crackdown against illegal Narcotics trade in A&N Islands, arrested four persons with huge quantity of contraband.

Acting on a specific information from reliable source that on 11/03/2022 Anil Kumar Xalxo R/o Megapode and his friends namely Budhwa Munda and Mukesh Tirkey would be striking a deal of Contraband Substance, a raiding team comprising of ASI Mohammed Rafique, HC Sanjay Kujur, PCs Y. Srinivas Rao, K. Rajendran, Raja Rao and Bindu Kumari were deputed to Minnie Bay junction and a trap was laid. The team intercepted three persons namely Anil Kumar Xalxo R/o Megapode, Budhwa Munda R/o Lamba Line and Mukesh Tirkey R/o Adajig, Baratang and recovered 1.005 Kg of Meth Amphetamine from their possession. The prime accused Mukesh Majhi, resident of 04 Km, Kali Nagar, Hutbay was also later arrested on the same day.  The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Sh. Ashok Kumar, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID).

During sustained interrogation accused Mukesh Majhi disclosed that around 03 kgs Meth Amphetamine is also stored in the godown of his house at Hut Bay, which was subsequently recovered with the assistance of local Police of PS Hut Bay.               

The Central Crime Station of CID unit, Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making these Islands free from drugs and is keeping strict vigil over smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substance in these Islands. General public is also being requested to pass on credible information on narcotic substance, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233307, 232586, 100, & 9474290250. The informer will be suitably rewarded and his/her identity will be kept secret.

The general public is requested to inform local Police regarding abandoned or unclaimed narcotics in their locality and request all concerned person who have illegally stored these type of washed away drug in coastal areas to surrender the same to local Police Station.
