Port Blair, March 16: COVID-19 vaccination for children in the age group of 12 to 14 years began in A&N Islands today. Corbevax vaccine manufactured by Biological E. Limited, Hyderabad is being administered to the children.

Today, as many as 80 children in the age group of 12 to 14 years were administered Corbevax at JNRM Vaccination Centre against the target beneficiaries of 13000. Eligible children may walk into the JNRM Vaccination Centre as well as other designated vaccination centre across A&N Islands and get themselves vaccinated.

People above 60 years of age are eligible for Precaution Dose, as the condition of comorbidity for this age group has been removed. The Precaution Dose is to be administered after 9 months after the date of second vaccination.

Meanwhile, the vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,08,957 doses of vaccine have been administered to beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above so far. Similarly, 23,265 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 with first dose. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 9451.

A total of 199 eligible beneficiaries were vaccinated in A&N Islands today. 189 eligible beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District. 6 eligible beneficiaries were vaccinated in Nicobar District, a press release from DHS said.
