It is brought to the notice of the electricity consumers of Port Blair and South Andaman area that due to prevailing humid and hot climate there is an increase in power demand resulting in shortage of power. To cope up the situation, a rotational load shedding of approximately 30 minutes has been announced in and around Port Blair & South Andaman area during evening peak hours i.e. from 05.30 PM to 09.30 PM.

We appeal that while today the department can keep “ZERO” load shedding at low consumption of power by general public and departments, but if there is indiscriminate usage, the peak demand will increase and there may be need to resort to power cuts. The quantum and duration of load shedding during evening hours could be totally avoided, if the general public, the consumers and all other Govt. & Private establishment cooperate with the department by voluntarily reducing the use of electrical gadgets and equipments to the minimum possible extent, so that the wastage is reduced and the department is able to meet its peak demand within the existing generation.

All consumers are requested to use barest minimum electrical equipments especially during evening peak hours i.e. from 05.30 PM to 09.30 PM.

We suggest during peak hours Air Conditioners, Geysers, Microwave Ovens, Washing Machines, electrical irons, water pump etc., should be avoided for every ones benefits as much as possible.

The commercial establishments must stop using High Mast lights, Halogen Lights in their shops & hoardings and switch-off all such lights which are not basically required.

It is our collective duty to save power by our own efforts so that we can give 24 hrs. electricity to everyone.
