Very Heavy Rains with Thunderstorms and High Wind Likely to be Experienced in the Isles

Port Blair, March 17: Heavy to very heavy rain (7-20 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over Nicobar Islands on 18^th March. Thunderstorms with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

On 19^th and 20^th March, heavy to very heavy rain very likely to occur with extreme heavy rain at one or two places over Nicobar Islands and one or two places over Andaman Islands. Thunder storms & lightning accompanied with gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 kmph likely over one or two places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands. This will be followed by heavy rain (7-11 cm) at one or two places over Andaman islands on 21^st March.

Due to the low pressure area over South Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood which is likely to intensify and mover towards Andaman Sea, fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea from 18^th to 20^th March 2022. Those who are in deep sea are advised to return to the coast.
