Port Blair, April 8: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to provide age relaxation for islanders in all government jobs by three years.

In his letter to the Lt. Governor, the MP mentioned that due to Covid-19 pandemic, the entire world came to a standstill for several months and for nearly two years many crucial government works like recruitment to various posts in Andaman & Nicobar Islands could not be conducted.

He said that now, as the third wave is over and the COVID-19 situation is coming under total control in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, some departments are planning to start the process of recruitment in various vacant posts. By the time the fresh recruitment process is completed, there will be a gap of nearly three years in Andaman, without any major recruitment drive.

The Member of Parliament said that in this duration of three years hundreds of unemployed youths of Andaman & Nicobar Islands have crossed or will cross the age limit for applying in any government job.  These youths will pay a heavy price for no fault from their side and hence there is a need to deal with this case very sympathetically.

Considering the problems of these youths, who have or will cross age limit for government jobs, in these three years, the Member of Parliament has requested the Lt. Governor to provide age relaxation for all Islanders in all government jobs by three years so that youths who have been made disqualified by COVID-19 pandemic can get a justified chance and can also apply for government jobs.
