Port Blair, April 10: The newly constructed Residential Building of Child (Girls) Care Centre run under the aegis of Pranab Kanya Sangha, Port Blair has been inaugurated at a simple function organised on 08th April 2022 by Shri Suneel Anchipaka IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman as the Chief Guest.  The function was also graced by Sannyasini Jnananandamayee, Vice President, Pranab Kanya Sangha; Swami Prarthanananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Port Blair and Shraddhananda Saraswati, Resident Acharya, Chinmaya Mission, Port Blair as Special Guests.

Located near the All India Radio, Port Blair station, this is a triple-storeyed RCC Building (G+2) on 10,000 Sq. Ft. area.  At the ground floor, it has two-winged living rooms for total 60 children. At one wing, living space for 24 children (aged between 2 years and 12 years) and on the other wing, that for 36 children (aged between 13 years to 24 years) have been made. The first floor of the building consists of modern kitchen, store room, dining hall (with complete buffet system for 60 children at a time) at one wing; and at the other wing there is spacious hall for indoor games and amusements with televisions (for the children aged 2 years to 12 years and 13 years to 24 years) etc. At the second floor, prayer hall and space for organising social get-together / cultural programme etc. (covering 8,200 Sq. Ft. area and having capacity of 500 persons) has been constructed.

Moreover, at the ground level there are two playgrounds (one for children aged 2 years to 12 years and the other for children of 13 years to 24 years), flower garden, kitchen garden etc.  In addition to the above, the building has modern infrastructures like 24 hours’ power back up, CCTV, PA system, RO system water facilities etc.

The entire residential building has been constructed by Shri Shyamal Chowdhury, one of the well-known industrialists and business personalities of this archipelago with his own resources. 

Addressing the assemblage, the Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman) applauded the efforts of those associated with the construction of this residential building.  He said that this is not a mere building containing sand, cement, iron, steel etc., but it is the bright sign of love and care for the inmates.
