Port Blair, April 11: Laying emphasis on the interest of college students of A&N Islands, the National Students Union of India's State General Secretary Mr. Saurav Nair has constituted a nine-point charter of demands and submitted a memorandum regarding the same to the Hon'ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands on Monday for immediate redressal.

The points in the memorandum included the demand to conduct gender-sensitisation workshops for all first year students of all colleges along with workshops on sex education.

Other points demanded were for installation of CCTV cameras in all college and hostel premises for security purpose, setting up regional study and research centres in tribal belts, deployment of women guards at girls hostels, setting up centralised placement cell in all colleges by having ties with companies like TCS and Infosys.

Among the other demands, Nair requested the Hon'ble LG to direct the Pondicherry University to declare the results of the semester examinations within 45 days from day of conducting the examination.

He also demanded that the results of 'back papers' should be declared immediately after exam and problems like re-check/re-evaluation of papers should be solved immediately by the college authorities. Moreover, he demanded that the fees amount for semester examination and other remuneration should be reduced.
