Port Blair, April 18: As an essential part of academic curriculum, Tagore Govt. College of Education flagged off a five days long Annual Community Living Camp for B.Ed. teacher trainees of 2021-23 batch on 18 Apr 2022.

The theme of the first day was “Visit to the adapted village to spread awareness on social issues”. Under this theme, the trainees of TGCE were taken to the adopted village of the college i.e. New Pahargaon. Due to Covid 19 pandemic and subsequest SOP guidelines during the  past two years, the college  was not able to give its due focus on the said village.

However, this year, keeping in mind the need of the hour, three different awareness rallies were conducted by the teacher trainees on “Shikshit Bharat, Shaksham Bharat”, “Swatch Bharat Abhiyan” and “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” in the adapted village under the supervision of its Principal, and faculty members on the first day. Thereafter, a survey, covering a total of more than 300 families of the village , was  conducted to critically analyse the “Education Level Standards”, “Plastic Pollution Behavior” and “Drug Addicition and Prohibition Survey” in the Ward to initiate further course of action to help the villagers.

A big catalyst for the smooth functioning and the overall success of the program was full cooperation provided by the Ward Counciller Mrs. Pandi Selvi.  She made the newly renovated Multi Purpose Community Hall available for the trainees and also helped to conduct the rally and aurvey. The day came to a close with plantation of saplings by the trainees and staff of TGCE.
