Port Blair, April 20: The vision of the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi is to make India Malnutrition Free by 2023.  In this context, the BJP National unit has given the responsibility to Mahila Morcha, A&N Islands to promulgate a mass movement to achieve the goal.

On 19th April 2022, under the guidance of  National President, BJP Mahila Morcha, Ms. Vanathi Srinivasan, the State President BJP Mahila Morcha Andaman & Nicobar Islands Smti Sampa Banerjee organised a POSHAN ABHIYAN at Choudari Panchayat.

The State President BJP Shri Ajoy Bairagi was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Smti Sheela Singh, National Executive Member, BJMM and State Vice President, BJP, A&N Islands was the Guest of Honour. Anganwadi and Asha Workers were felicitated with certificates and nutritious kits were distributed to the pregnant and lactating mothers during the program.

Later the Mahila Morcha team visited GB Pant Hospital and distributed nutritious kits at Maternity and Children’s ward apart from covering Anganwadi Centres.

Similar programs were organised at Rangat, Mayabunder, Parnashala and Diglipur.

Today Poshan Abhiyan was celebrated at Shadipur Community Hall wherein Anganwadi workers were felicitated kits were distributed by Smti Sheela Singh, Smti Sampa Banerjee and Smti Varalaxmi.

As special guests PBMC Chairperson, Smti Kavitha Udhaya and South Andaman Zila Parishad Adhyaksh, Smti Pramila Kumari were present.
