Port Blair, April 20: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Administration to increase the frequency of the ‘Line Boat’, which is being operated between Port Blair and Rangat via Shaheed Dweep, Swaraj Dweep and Long Island.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that recently the ‘Line-Boat Service’, between Port Blair and Rangat via Shaheed Dweep, Swaraj Dweep and Long Island was resumed after a gap of nearly two years, which has brought huge relief for the Islanders.

The Member of Parliament said that he has been informed by a large number of Islanders of Shaheed Dweeep and Swaraj Dweep that only limited numbers of tickets are being issued to residents of different Islands for this ferry, which are not sufficient and hence not everyone can avail the sailing. Hence a lot of people have to wait for one or two weeks to get tickets for this ferry.

Considering the immense importance of the ferry and heavy demand of tickets, the Member of Parliament demanded an increase in the frequency of the ferry to thrice a week from present twice a week schedule, so that more people can avail the sailing of ‘Line-boat’ every week.
