Port Blair, April 22: In order to spread Road Safety awareness among the college students, a road safety awareness programme was conducted on 21.04.2022 at ANCOL by A&N Traffic Police. The College Principal, faculties and about 300 students participated in the programme. While addressing the students, Shri. Abhishek Gupta, DANIPS, Dy. SP (Traffic) expressed serious concern over the rising cases of Drunken Driving in the city. He also emphasized the ill effects of Drunken Driving and its financial and psychological effects on the entire family in the event of a major accident and appealed to obey traffic rules.

Later, SI M. Saravanan of Traffic Branch threw light on the need and importance of various road safety measures such as wearing helmet, fastening seat belts, avoiding Overspeeding, usage of mobile phone while driving, avoiding careless overtaking, giving way to emergency vehicles etc.

Further, they were encouraged to report traffic violations by sending clear photograph/short videos of violation containing clear registration no. of vehicle with date, time and place of offence on the official Whatsapp No. 9531892228 or share through the twitter handle @ANTrafficPolice or on the 24x7 Traffic Control Room Number 03192-243812 for prompt action against the violators.
