Port Blair, April 22: On the occasion of World Earth Day on 22nd April 2022, the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma today called upon the Islanders to plant a sapling in every house to mark the day.

Addressing the gathering during a Tree Plantation Programme organized to mark the World Earth Day at Doordarshan Kendra Port Blair campus, the Member of Parliament said that human beings are leading a mechanical life in this fast paced world and we feel contented and enjoy ourselves with our personal and professional well –being.

He added that the universe has showered its blessings on it through Pancha Bhaoota i.e. Air, Water, Fire, Earth and Sky.  We are enjoying its benefits but we need to think of saving the same. 

He mentioned that it is our responsibility to take care of Mother Earth and safely handover it to our next generation as our ancestors had done for us. During the last 100 years, the nature of earth has changed tremendously with a lot of inventions. 

The Member of Parliament further said that our lifestyle has become sophisticated with new inventions and technology but it has impacted global warming too.  Amidst these inventions and its effects, we can retain a green and healthy environment by planting saplings, avoiding plastics, purifying water etc. 

He added that we have to put all our efforts to overcome global warming which has a vital impact vitally on nature and we should increase the greenery on earth by planting saplings and render our support in growing them as trees which reassures Green Earth.
