Port Blair, April 25: The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell, JNRM in association with the DAY-NRLM, Gram Panchayat, Beodnabad organised a three days Skill Development Training on Embroidery in Burmanallah Village, Beodnabad Gram Panchayat for the women from 21st to 23rd April 2022.  The valedictory function was held on 23rd April 2022 in the Gram Panchayat Hall.  Dr. H.K. Sharma, Principal, JNRM was the Chief Guest.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest highlighted the Central Government schemes for the welfare of women. The handicrafts products like handmade design and embroidery has a great market potential and in the digital era one can sell their products from Andaman to anywhere in the word, he added. 

Dr. K.Venkatesan, HOD, Homescience and Nodal Officer, informed the gathering that UBA is working for the enhancement of economic development in the rural areas trough accelerating the indigenous and latent skills of women. The platform provided by the JNRM UBA Cell is an opportunity for the women and they should come forward to utilise the services rendered by the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan activities, he added.

Smt. Banumathi, DAY-NRLM underscored the need for such training and informed the gathering that those who were trained under UBA Pickle Making Training have started their entrepreneurial unit at micro level. The hands on training on various Running Stitch, Back Stitch, Split Stitch, Satin Stitch, French Knot, Lazy Daisy/ Chain Stitch, Feather Stitch, Kashmiri Stitch, Fish Bone etc., imparted by Ms.Kamila Lakra, Freelance Trainer.

Shri. Gautam Mitra, ICSSR Project Staff, JNRM coordinated the programme and spoke on the importance of rural livelihood development  and various ways of marketing the products produced by women through their SHGs. Altogether 30 women took part in the skill development programmes and certificates were distributed during valedictory of the programme.
