Port Blair, May 23: On the directions of the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, the District Administration, South Andaman has adopted and added the process of obtaining permission for earth cutting through online process.

Keeping in view of the demand for earth cutting permissions from local populace/Private agencies/Govt. departments and in order to have a free, fair and transparent approach the District Administration, South Andaman has adopted the procedure to grant permission for earth cutting through an online service under edistrict.andaman .gov.in.

The service for grant of permission for earth cutting has been developed and inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner South Andaman on 23/05/2022. The above online service has been commenced after a thorough study on the modalities to develop the software. The General public have been advised to apply online on the above site or may apply through the help of nearest Common Service Centre or e-corner.

The officials of the Revenue department have been directed that special attention may be given to scientific earth cutting and also monitor contour cutting of the earth maintaining the ecology of the extraction site as well as the adjoining parcels of land taking into consideration the overall safety of the life and property. 

It is further intimated that the District Administration shall take stringent and strict actions against those who are involved in illegal earth cutting.

The Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration has also directed that the field functionaries to keep pictures of pre and post status of the particular land for which earth cutting permission is being given for keeping records and future references.

Further it is hereby informed that from now onwards permission for earth cutting shall only be granted for online mode and no petition in offline mode shall be entertained.
