Port Blair, May 24: Continuing its zero tolerance policy towards encroachment on government land, the revenue department of South Andaman District carried out eviction drive committed over Government land at Port Blair Tehsil.
On 24th May, 2022, an encroachment eviction drive was carried out and an area measuring 1000 Sq. mtrs. approximately out of Sy. No. 396 situated at Garacharma village occupied by the Private Truck Owners Association illegally by parking commercial vehicles upon the land and by constructing temple has been restored to Government.
Later on, the structure of temple was removed and the idols of God was immersed in water ritually with utmost reverence by the revenue field staff.
It is further submitted that the encroachment eviction drive will continue in coming weeks within Port Blair Tehsil. The general public are hereby requested to contact the District Control Room on the numbers 03192-238881, 240127, 9531888844 (Whatsapp) and pass the information on encroachments.
