Port Blair, May 24: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration to consider constructing a shed at both Marina Park and Gandhi Park, where children and other visitors can take shelter during sudden and heavy rain.

He also requested the Chief Secretary to construct these sheds in such a way that it does not spoil the natural beauty of the place.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament added that Marina Park and Gandhi Park are two of the most frequented places in Port Blair city for children and the general public.

The Member of Parliament added that during summer vacation large numbers of children visit these two parks for recreation and playing activities but vacation time is also the Monsoon season for these Islands and in case of sudden heavy rain, children and others do not get sufficient shelter from rain.

He added that tourists visiting these two places also find it very difficult to take shelter during unexpected rain.
