A decision in this regard was taken by the State Secretariat meeting of the Party held at party State Headquarter Shaheed Bhawan at Anarkali, Port Blair on 23rd May, 2022.

The Party has called upon all its Area Committees in the union territory to organize various programmes during the week from 25th to 31st May, 2022.  At Port Blair, the Party proposes to organize four public meetings besides carrying out corner meetings, mike announcement, etc. during this period.

The Left Parties have noted that unabated galloping price rise is imposing unprecedented burdens on the people. Crores are suffering and pushed into deeper poverty with growing huger pangs in the country.  Coming on top of unprecedented and growing levels of unemployment, this is compounding people’s miseries.  Over the last year, the prices of petroleum products have increased by 70 percent, vegetables by 20 percent, cooking oil by 23 percent and cereals by 8 percent.  The demands to be highlighted during the All India Protest Week include (i) Roll back of all surcharges/cess on petroleum products (ii) strengthen PDS by distributing all essential commodities particularly pulses and edible oils, (iii) direct cash transfer of Rs. 7,500 per month to all non-income tax paying families (iv) increase MGNREGS allocation and legislate Central Scheme for unemployment allowance, (v) legislate employment guarantee scheme for urban areas, (vi) fill up all vacant posts, etc.  In addition, local issues like frequent power cut, etc. will also be highlighted during the programme and campaign.
