Port Blair, May 26: Tourist guides play a major role in the promotion and marketing of any tourist destination of the Country/States/UTs. They are the one who interact with tourists at tourist sites. The best tour guide should have the basic command over language, knowledge about the destinations, history about the heritage sites, information about weather conditions, safe diving sites/zone, basic dos and don’ts for tourists etc.

With a view to strengthen the basic skills of a Tourist Guide, the Tourism Department will be conducting a three days’ Tourist Guide Training Programme from 9 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm in the conference hall of this Directorate from June 6 to 8, 2022.

Interested unemployed educated youth/candidates may collect the prescribed application form from SI (Planning) of the Directorate of Tourism and submit by June 3, 2022. The candidate applying for the same must have minimum qualification of 12th passed from any recognized institution /college. The Department will provide valid certificate to all the qualified trainees, after successful completion of the training. No remuneration or TA/DA will be provided to trainees by the Department.
