Port Blair, May 31: The Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has extended his highest appreciation and gratitude to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands for considering to construct another guest house at Chennai, which is the need of the hour since many Islanders go to Chennai for various purposes like treatment, study, social obligations etc.

However, the Member of Parliament mentioned that since Chennai is the gateway of South India and many students of these Islands are studying at various parts in the State of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana etc. for pursuing higher and professional educational courses and are required to stay at Chennai during their transit journey to their respective destinations. During this period of stay, they are facing financial hardship to meet the lodging and boarding expenses at Chennai.

In this regard the Member of Parliament suggested the Directorate of Information and Publicity to consider inclusion of 04 Nos. Air Conditioned Dormitory Rooms (i.e. each 25 bedded capacity) to accommodate 100 students (50 for gents and 50 for ladies) in the proposed plan for construction of another Andaman Bhawan at Pallikaranai, Chennai.

Earlier the Member of Parliament had suggested these changes during his recent meeting with the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands following which the Hon’ble Lt. Governor has now directed the Directorate of Information and Publicity to take suggestion from the Member of Parliament for inclusion of these suggestions in the final project.
