Prime Minister Modi Holds Interaction with Beneficiaries of Welfare Schemes/Programmes
Port Blair, May 31: The Nation is celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Indian Independence. As a part of this momentous occasion, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji interacted with the beneficiaries of about 15 schemes/Progammes spanning over nine Ministries/Departments of the Government of India. The number of beneficiaries of many of the schemes runs in crores and in several cases in tens of crores.
All these schemes address the poorest segments of population; therefore, the event was aptly named as “Garib Kalyan Sammelan”. The first and foremost objective of the event is how to reach to the last mile beneficiaries to uplift their living standard by bringing them under the fold of all these schemes. The broad objectives of interaction programme is to ascertain how those left behind can be saturated –
1) Antyodaya approach
2) Understand the ease of living brought by various beneficiary oriented scheme
3) Seek ideas for improvement of the schemes,
4) Explore possibilities of further convergence for the realization of higher benefits, and discuss citizen aspirations@ 2047; when the nation will be celebrating its 100 years of Independence.
The Sammelan is one of the largest ever single-event nationwide interaction spanning across all districts, wherein Hon’ble Prime Minster interacted with beneficiaries about the impact that the wide-ranging schemes/programmes covering housing, availability of potable water, food, health and nutrition, livelihood and financial inclusion etc., have had on their lives. These schemes/programmes are:
(i) Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (both Grameen & Urban)
(ii) Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi
(iii) Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
(iv) POSHAN Abhiyan
(v) Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana
(vi) Swachh Bharat Mission (both Grameen & Urban)
(vii) Jal Jeevan Mission & AMRUT
(viii) Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Scheme
(ix) One Nation One Ration Card
(x) Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana
(xi) Ayushman Bharat PM Jan ArogyaYojana
(xii) Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre
(xiii) Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana
In Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the State level function was held at DBRAIT Auditorium while the District level functions were held at North & Middle Andaman District and Nicobar District to participate in the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s interaction event - ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’. The Rural Development Department, being the Nodal Department coordinated with the District Administrations and all Line Departments for successful conduct of the event.
Andaman & Nicobar Islands is proud to be a part of this august event and has made all the necessary arrangements for the programme held at respective venues of State/District level events from 9.45 A.M. onwards.
The State level event organized at the auditorium of Dr. B. R Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT), Dollygunj, Port Blair was presided over by Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Santosh D Vaidya, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, A&N Administration, Smt. Pramila Kumari, Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman District and Smt. U Kavita, Chairperson PBMC. Also, the event was attended by dignitaries of various departments of A&N Administration, Gram Pradhans, Panchayat Samiti Members, Zilla Parishad members, Bankers, Officials of departments implementing various welfare schemes of GoI and the beneficiaries of the said welfare schemes. Nearly, 650 persons participated in the State level event including 500 beneficiaries.
During the event, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Secretary (RD) welcomed the dignitaries and all participants in the event and explained about various welfare schemes of GOI being implemented by this UT. He also updated gathering about the pre-event activities conducted from 26th to 30th May, 2022 wherein awareness about all the welfare schemes was disseminated among the Islanders through Print Media, Social Media and talk shows with All India Radio. Also explained about the efforts being taken by the Administration for effective implementation of schemes and benefits availed by the beneficiaries. Later, the short video documentaries on beneficiaries of various schemes were displayed as well as live interaction with the beneficiaries present at the venue was done to have their view about transformation in their lives with the implementation of respective schemes and to have suggestion for better implementation of schemes in future.
Similarly, in the District level events at N&M Andaman & Nicobar districts nearly 500 persons participated to observe the Garib Kalyan Sammelan of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
The State & District level events of the UT were linked with the National level event at 11.00 A.M., wherein the Hon’ble Prime Minister through virtual mode from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh had interaction with the beneficiaries of various welfare schemes being implemented throughout the country. The beneficiaries from A&N Islands enthusiastically participated in the virtual webcast of the National level event to witness the live address of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. The Hon’ble Prime Minister released 11th installment of the Kisan Samman Nidhi to the beneficiaries of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme during the event and nearly 14871 beneficial of this UT have also been benefited in the same.
This interaction has not only highlighted people-centric approach of the welfare schemes of GOI leading to ease of living of citizens but also enlightened the Government on the aspirations of the people and ensure that no one is left behind in the nation’s march to progress.
