Port Blair, June 7: The brave fire fighters of A&N Police Fire Service proved their mettle once again and carried out a fire fighting operation. On 05th June, 2022 at about 1852 hours a fire call message was received at Fire Control Room stating that the fire broke out in a Semi-RCC residential building located near Ananda Marga School, Junglighat. Immediately Water Tender & Water Bouzer from Fire Station Aberdeen was pressed into the scene of fire. On reaching the spot, it was noticed that massive blaze with dense smoke was emanating from the semi RCC building consisting G + 2. The fire broke out in a first floor & spread to the second floor requiring additional Fire Vehicles from nearby station.
Simultaneously, as a part of the salvage operation the neighbouring buildings were timely evacuated to prevent any injuries or human loss.
Yet again the A&N Fire Service personnel proved good their workmanship in saving property worth crores of rupees by averting a major fire mishap in the densely populated area.
Prima facie the cause of fire appears to be short circuit. Property worth Rs. 2.75 Crores was saved by Fire Service personnel including two numbers car parked below the building. Fire Service personnel exhibited high sense of professionalism and the efforts were highly appreciated by the general public. The local residents lauded the Fire Fighters & appreciated the swift firefighting. Entire firefighting operation was carried out by the staff of Fire Station Aberdeen, Marine, Chatham, Haddo Wharf and Garacharma. The fire personnel deployed in office duties were also roped in for the firefighting operations led by Shri R.K. Singh, IFB (HQ) under supervision of Dy.SP (Fire) and overall supervision of Superintendent of Police (Fire), A&N Islands.
