CPI (M) Demands Immediate Filling Up of Vacant Posts Under A&N Administration

Port Blair, June 10: Communist Party of India (Marxist) has demanded immediate filling up of vacant posts under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. In a letter sent to the Lt. Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee drew the attention of the Lt. Governor to the inaction on the part of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration in not filling up the vacant posts lying in various departments under the Administration. He said that about ten thousand posts are lying vacant. None of the departments has taken any effective steps to fill up these posts. CPI (M) told the Lt. Governor that no recruitment is carried out in any of the departments during the last 2 – 3 years.  It is intriguing that only publicity is resorted to at various levels of the Administration about the filling up of these posts but at the ground level nothing is happening and the posts remain unfilled, he said.

Shri Ayyappan told the Lt Governor that nearly one lakh local youths who have registered their names with the local employment exchanges are waiting for a job and in such a situation keeping such a large number of posts in the Administration is insensitive and unjustified.

He further told the Lt. Governor that in the absence of any job opportunities in private sector in the islands, local youths here aspire for a government job. However, the authorities in the Administration turn a blind eye towards the plight of these unemployed local youths.

Shri Ayyappan urged the Lt. Governor kindly to look into this matter personally and take all possible steps to ensure that all the vacant posts in various departments under the Administration are filled up in a time-bound manner so that the unemployed local youths will get job in government sector and will be a great relief for thousands of families.
