Pradhan and PRIs of Gram Panchayat Threaten Mass Resignation if the Issue is Not Addressed on Time

Diglipur, June 10: Mr Mitun Das, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Ramnagar along with all PRIs of the have threatened a mass resignation if the STS Bus Service is not restored in the village. They have given an ultimatum of 30 days within which if there is no response, the mass resignation will be submitted.

The Pradhan and PRIs of Ramnagar have been appealing to the concerned authorities regarding the pathetic condition of the village road due to with the State Transport Service has decided not to ply its busses on this road. Due to non-availability of bus service in the village, the villagers including old aged, patients, children among other are forced to walk around 8 kilometers to get the bus service. This has been the situation since past one year, inspite of the appeal by the PRIs and the villagers.

The Pradhan and the PRIs have marked a letter to the Prime Minister, Home Minister, ,Chief Election Commissioner of India, Minister of Rural Development, Lieutenant Governor ANI and to the Chief Secretary with copies of the letter Shri B.P Ray, Ex-Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Secretary RD, Director Panchayat, Director Transport, Deputy Commissioner N&M Andaman and the Assistant Commissioner Diglipur.

According to the PRIs, the bus service has been barred by Diglpur STS Unit since 1Year with an excuse of bad road condition. The maintenance of the road comes under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna since almost 3 years but the work has not started due to high rate quotes by contractors. Since the road is under PMGSY-2, the Gram Panchayat needs approval of the Director Panchayat for repair works.
