Port Blair, July 12: Andaman & Nicobar State Secretariat of the CPI (M) strongly condemns the violence unleashed by Sangh Parivar supporters at Diglipur, North Andaman today (12.07.2022). Reports reaching from Diglipur revealed that a group of Sangh Parivar supporters entered the shop of a shopkeeper at Diglipur and vandalized the shop, attacked the workers in the shop and also physically attacked the shopkeeper saying that he was involved in cow slaughter.

The Sangh Parivar hooligans have even threatened the media people reporting. There were only a few number of police personnel present at the spot and they could not control the strong mob of Sangh Parivar supporters. The entire shops and other business establishments in the Diglipur bazaar closed shutters, fearing attack from the mob.

As per reports received from CPI (M) leaders and workers of Diglipur, the attack was carried out in a pre-planned manner considering the number of people assembled in the bazaar to attack the business establishment of the person allegedly involved in the cow slaughter and to break the communal harmony prevailing in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

CPI (M) calls upon the authorities in the Administration to cause an investigation into the whole incident and take stern action against those Sangh Parivar people who were involved in the vandalism unleashed at Diglipur.  The role of authorities concerned who failed to contain the violence at the initial stage should also be probed.

CPI (M) urges upon the Administration to take all possible measures to stop recurrence of such incidents in Andaman & Nicobar Islands in future.  CPI (M) also calls upon people of Diglipur not to be swayed by the communal forces that are out to disturb the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in these Islands.
