Port Blair, July 22: Amidst the financial meltdown of the global economies which is affecting more or less every nation, India is progressing ahead with its strong economic policies and reforms. To stay ahead in the race of economic prosperity, the Government of India has been launching a number of programmes and schemes for the upliftment of small and medium industries across the nation.

As our nation has largely young population, this amazing human resource if given adequate training and if well utilised will be a game changer for the nation’s economy. To draw maximum benefit from this untapped resource, the Government had rolled out amazing array of schemes and programmes for the benefit of youths. One such programme is newly launched Deen Dayal Upadhyay Grameen Kaushal Yojna (DDU-GKY) which is considered to change the employability status of youth in the country. Under this programme the rural India where job opportunities are limited, this programme will unleash job opportunities through a series of training programmes. Under this programme, the rural population especially the youth who have completed the metric exam will be given training on multitude of trades such as Electrician, Carpentry, auto motor mechanics, airconditioner/refrigeration technician, Tailoring & fashion designing, General Duty etc. The programme allow the youth to go through training on their preferred trade and after completion of such course the programme will make arrangements of financial supports to the aspiring youth in the form of small loans which will be provided through nationalized banks.

One such programme was conducted today on 21.07.2022 at the panchayat hall of Wimberly Gunj Gram Panchayat. This awareness programme was rolled out by the Directorate of RD, PRIs and ULBs in association with Gram Panchayat Wimberly Gunj and Gram Panchayat Kanyapuram. Officials from Directorate of RD presented brief introductions of the programme to an audience of more than 100 youths. Shri. Venkat Ram, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Wimberly Gunj gave the welcome speech where he emphasized the importance of self-employment and also briefed the participants about the many benefits of the said programme. At the end of the awareness programme, Shri. P. Abdul Basheer, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Kanyapuram present his gratitude to the officials representing the programme and adviced the unemployed youth to take the benefits of this programme by enrolling for the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Grameen Kaushal Yojna.
