Port Blair, July 25: As a part of celebrations on Ujjala Diwas under the theme of Azadi ka Amrit Mahastav, Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya – Power @ 2047 is being organized all over India in July, 2022 by the Ministry of Power in collaboration with Govt. of States/UTs to showcase the achievements made by centre and State Govt. and to envision the future opportunities in power sector. In this connection the 1st programme in A&N Islands was held at Chouldhari Community Hall in South Andaman District.

Shri. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (SA) graced the occasion as Chief Guest along with Shri. Dilkush Meena, SDM (SA), Smt. Pramila Kumari, Adhyaksha, ZP (SA) and other PRIs and officials of Electricity Dept. 

The function started with lamp lighting by the dignitaries, thereafter the achievement of Govt. of India was showcased through short movie on various themes such as Universal Household Electrification, One Nation One Grid, Renewal Energy and Capacity Addition.

The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman reiterated that Electricity Dept. of A&N Administration despite various challenges is working 24X7 for providing continuous power supply to the islanders. DC (SA) also requested people to save energy and stressed on the use of renewable energy resources. He further requested the villagers of Chouldhari that as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahastav, A&N Administration as per direction of Govt. of India is celebrating “Har Ghar Tiranga” programme whereby all the islanders are requested to hoist the flag at their homes as the Flag Code has also been amended.

Cultural programme and Nukad Natak with the message of energy conservation and consumer rights was also presented as the part of celebration and a short movie showcasing the testimonials of benefits of various schemes of the Electricity Dept. was presented in which identified beneficiaries expressed their gratitude towards the Administration for the benefits of the schemes by Electricity Dept. and enhanced power supply.
