Port Blair, Aug 19: CPI (M) has demanded immediate issuance of general transfer orders of teachers and Heads of Schools working under the Education Department. In a letter sent to the Secretary (Education), A & N Administration, Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee explained the difficulties being faced by a large number of teachers and heads of institutions who have applied for transfer from one place to other on various grounds. Shri Ayyappan told the Secretary (Education) that those teachers whose children are studying in Class XII are unable to be with their children during the crucial period of their studies.  Besides, a large number of teachers who have completed their tenure at the present place of posting and applied for transfer are also waiting for their transfer.  Those who are posted in the southern group of islands and completed their normal tenure are also to be brought back.

CPI (M) Secretary told the Secretary (Education) that as per the Administration’s Transfer Policy, the transfers should be carried out from 15th April to 15th June of every year, keeping in view the end of the academic year. Shri Ayyappan further told the Secretary (Education) that mid-academic session transfers and postings will cause inconvenience to those teachers whose children are studying in schools in the islands and asked the Secretary (Education) that this aspect may be kept in mind while carrying out transfers and postings of teachers and heads of institutions by the Directorate of Education from the next academic year. CPI (M) demanded to carry out the transfers and postings of teachers and heads of institutions without any further delay which will be of immense help both for the teachers as well as the affected students.
