Port Blair, Aug 23: ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ was celebrated befittingly by Jawahar Bal Manch (JBM) on 18th Aug 2022 at Laksh Public School. Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands had graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The programme began with the lighting of lamps and paying floral tribute to Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru by the Member of Parliament and other dignitaries. Various competitions were organised on the occasion viz. Fancy dress, Dance competitions, Elocution competitions, Essay competitions, greeting cards making and Bouquet competitions in which more than 200 students had actively participated.
Later certificates with mementoes were distributed to the participants and winners of the competitions. The programme was organised and coordinated by Miss Bindiya Banerjee, State Chief Coordinator, wherein Social Workers, Mrs. Ratna Kannan, Mr. Abhay Kumar, Mr. Elayaraja, Mr. Shaktivelu, Mr. Abdul Islam, Mr. Rajiv, State Co-ordinators, JBM, Ms. Manisha Kaur, Mr. Rahul Singh, Mr. Nadeem were present.
The Jawahar Bal Manch (JBM) believes that when children work together, they can change their world. It protects and supports children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support, ensuring their voices are heard, and campaigning to bring lasting improvements to their lives. Development of leadership qualities, communication skills, problem-solving ability, artistic expression and scientific inquisitiveness are parts of JBM's programmes.
