Port Blair, Aug 24: On the completion of 75 years of Independence, the Government of India has started the campaign of giving free vaccine doses for 75 days aimed at boosting the uptake of COVID-19 precautionary doses and keeping in view the clarion call of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to ensure that everybody in the family, area or village takes the vaccine, Booster Dose Campaign is being organized by the District Administration, South Andaman in coordination with the PRIs and various associations at multiple places across the District.

The District functionaries are proactively visiting and monitoring the special vaccination camps at various places in the District and field functionaries are being directed to maximize the participation of eligible persons in the COVID vaccination drive and strengthen the drive.

Field visits were carried out by Shri. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman) along with Shri. Ankit Yadav, IAS, Additional District Magistrate (SA), Shri. Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SA) at Ratri Niwas, Community Hall, Buniyabad, UHC Delanipur and UHC Dairy Farm and interacted with the health staff and Councillors of PBMC to bridge the gap.

Earlier in the day, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman held meetings with all Pradhans of South Andaman District. The list of 2nd dose vaccinated people was provided to the Pradhans for household survey so that unvaccinated people can be identified and vaccinated which will further facilitate the District Authorities to get the updated status regarding the vaccination of the local populace.

The field functionaries have now started targeting the urban areas which are densely populated where the proportion of unvaccinated population is higher like Delanipur, Junglighat, Dairy Farm etc.

The vaccination camps were organized at the following places on 25.08.2022:

1) Ward No 7 (Delanipur Community Hall)

2) Ward No 8 (Buniyadabad Community Hall

3) Ward No 12 (Sanitory Office Barghad Line)

4) Ward No 13 (Community Hall Junglighat near Island bakery)

5) Ward No 21 (Brookshabad Community Hall)

6) Ward No 14 (Fish Landing Jetty, Junglighat)

7) Tagore College

8) Mobile Vaccination, PHC Garacharma

9) Airport

10) Ferrargunj Check Post

11) Phoenix Bay Jetty

12) JNRM

13) Mobile vaccination under PHC Tushnabad

14) Wandoor Community Hall near Panchayat Office

15) Hasmatabad village and nearby village of Wandoor (Mobile Camp)

16) Junglighat market vaccination by shop to shop visit

Total 28760 persons were administered vaccination in the ongoing campaign in last seven days from 18th August 2022 to 23rd August 2022.
