Port Blair, Aug 28: A three (3) days training programme on “First Aid Fire Fighting & Disaster Preparedness” was conducted at Fire Service Training Centre, Fire Service (HQ) from 23/08/2022 to 25/08/2022 to sensitize Teachers, Government Servants, Petrol Pump staff, Hoteliers and General Public.

As many as 104 persons participated in the training session including 33- Teachers, 03- Government Servants, 08- Petrol Pump Staff, 37- Hotel Staff and 23- Civilians.  Shri. S.K.Jain, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) briefed about the importance of fire safety awareness to the participants. The participants were urged to share/disseminate knowledge gained through this training programme and take fire safety precautions. The Course certificates were also handed over to the participants at the valediction program.

The participants were made aware about how to operate different types of fire extinguishers, classes of fire and various activities of Andaman & Nicobar Fire Service. A live demonstration on fire-fighting by using various fire extinguishers on different types of fire was also displayed at Fire Service (HQ) and hands on training was imparted to the participants on the concluding day. The objective of this training program is to create awareness about fire prevention/safety precaution and to respond in case of fire exigency. 

The participants appreciated the endeavour of A & N Fire Service in capacity building of stakeholders to respond in case of any fire exigency.
