Swaraj Dweep, Aug. 30: The Directorate of Tourism, A&N Administration as part of ‘Clean Coast, Safe Sea’ campaign launched by GoI conducted a Beach   Cleanliness Drive at Radhanagar Beach, Swaraj Dweep early   this morning. The drive which was led by Director (IP&T), Shri Prateek Raj Yadav was aimed at improving coastal health via community action. More than 100 people including Pradhan, Shayam Nagar Panchayat, Shri Alok Mirdha, PRIs, tourism stakeholders, staff of Taj Exotica and Spa, Police personnel and general public actively participated in the cleanliness drive. Around 50 bags of waste were collected and disposed safely during the campaign.

It may be recalled that Radhanagar bagged the Silver Award for ‘Best Beach Destination in India’ by Outlook Group recently. The beach has been awarded Blue Flag Certification by the Denmark-based NGO Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).

On the occasion, the Director (IP&T) urged the participants to carry out such cleanliness drive involving tourism stakeholders/general public and PRI members on a regular basis at Radhanagar Beach, Swaraj Dweep. He also stressed upon conservation of beach ecosystem and create awareness among beach users/tourists about the fragile nature of beach ecology.
