Tourism Deptt. in Coordination with Tourism Stakeholders Conducts Beach Cleanliness Drive at Shaheed Dweep

Port Blair, Sept. 4: The Tourism Department conducted beach cleanliness drive today at Bharatpur Beach, Shaheed Dweep, a preferred tourist destination in South Andaman frequented by a good number of National and International tourists.  The Beach cleanliness drive was carried out as part of ‘Clean Coast, Safe Sea’ campaign launched by GoI.

More than 50 people including the Pradhan, Smt. Pinkey Das of Gram Panchayat, Shaheed Dweep, police personals, forest officials, life guards, TSET members and Tourism stakeholders took part in the cleanliness drive.

Around 10 gunny bags of garbage's containing plastic bottles, rappers, glass bottles were collected during the drive from the beach and same was transported through the Panchayat for safe/proper disposal. During the drive, the In-Charge, Hawa Bill Nest Yatri Niwas, Shaheed Dweep, IP&T Shri M. Madhavan who co-ordinated the drive also sensitized the beach users/tourists about the fragile nature of beach ecology and sought their co-operation to keep the beach clean & healthy.
