Port Blair, Sept. 22: An unfortunate tragedy at Anna Nagar village under Hope Town Gram Panchayat was reported on 31st August, 2022 wherein two brothers Bobby Tamang (15) & Bishal Bahadur Tamang (12) drowned by falling into a ditch at Hope Town village under Ferrargunj Tehsil in South Andaman District.
Taking proactive steps to provide immediate ex-gratia relief/financial assistance to the next of kin of the deceased persons, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS along with Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS handed over the financial benefits of Rs. 3,00,000/- to Shri Kul Bahadur Tamang, father of the deceased children in terms of the norms of assistance from the scheme A&N Island Scheme for providing financial assistance to victims of accidents (who are not covered under the prevailing NDRF/SDRF norms approved by the Government of India.
