Port Blair, Sept. 26: In its pursuit to drugs free Andaman, a team of PS Diglipur headed by Inspr. Stalin N.S, SHO PS Diglipur, SI Deepti Minj, HC(IRBn)/465 Santosh Nair, PC/2826 Devsai Toppo, PC/715 Santosh Lal, PC/2116 Abubacker Siddique, PC/2432 Sushil Sarkar, PC/2565 Samaresh Mistry, PC/971 Samir Halder, PC(D)/3049 Mritunjoy Das & Shri. Michael Raj Xalxo, Ex-Home Guard have proved their mettle once again.
On 25.09.2022, a credible information was received that one auto driver is carrying illicit ganja in R.K gram area and is going for delivery to someone. Acting swiftly the team came into action and intercepted the auto driver Dipankar Mistry S/o Shri. Dinesh Mistry R/o R.K Gram near Kalpong river bridge. Seeing the Police party, the auto driver threw a packet into Kalpong river and tried to escape from the spot. Police suspecting an illegal item thrown into the river, some of the team members jumped into the river and recovered the packet after swimming for around two kilometres in Kalpong river and remaining team members chased & apprehended the auto driver.
The recovered packet having illicit ganja was weighing around 1.2 kgs. On interrogation he revealed name of a receiver person named Biswajit Sarkar S/o Shri. Bimal Sarkar, STS Bus Driver R/o R.K Gram, Diglipur. Thereafter, team went in search of the said receiver.
Team searched the house of Biswajit Sarkar and recovered some packing material, weighing scale and further approximately 201 gm of ganja. In total 1.4 Kgs of ganja was recovered. Accordingly, 02 FIRs were registered at PS Diglipur under NDPS Act and both the accused persons were arrested.
