Port Blair, Sept. 26: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS during his visit to Swaraj Dweep visited Kalapathar Beach and its adjoining village early in the morning today on the request of public representatives.  During the visit, he was apprised of the issues and the challenges being faced by the villagers. Regarding parking space for vehicles at Kalapathar beach, the Chief Secretary said, the issue may be sorted out after proper demarcation of land.  The request for creation of proper trekking route will also be looked into.

On the demand for starting water sports activities at Kalapathar Beach, the Chief Secretary directed the concerned Officer to conduct survey of the area and accordingly demarcate the area for specific activities, keeping in mind the fragile marine life. He also directed that toilet facility at Kalapathar beach should be opened by 5 am as tourist visits the spot early in the morning and it may be handed over to Panchayat for its proper maintenance.  The Chief Secretary directed to widen the footpath at Kalapathar Naya Basti to facilitate the residents with motorable path.

Regarding the request for construction of a platform at Vijaynagar Mita Pani where unloading of cargo is done, the Chief Secretary directed the concerned officers to see for its feasibilities. The fishermen may also be allowed to have access to the Vijaynagar beach area, he said.

Later, the Chief Secretary also visited Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Govind Nagar-3 and inspected the facilities at the school. He also interacted with the teachers and students.
