Port Blair, Oct. 6: UNESCO has declared 6th October as International Geodiversity Day. What is geodiversity? Geodiversity is all around you. It is all the parts of nature that aren't alive; including everything from minerals and fossils, to soils and spectacular landscapes.

INTACH Andaman and Nicobar Chapter celebrated the day by organising a geoheritage walk at Diglipur. The walk was conducted by Pradeep Mazumdar who explained the importance of Saddle Peak and Kalpong river to students.

On the occasion of International Geodiversity Day, the chapter also launched a compendium of Geoheritage sites across these islands.
